We are so excited by the positive momentum we are seeing to get our centre, Haven Childcare, open by May 1st, 2025.
We know there are lots of questions and we want to share the answers to our most frequently asked questions, but encourage you to keep reaching out about anything you want to know that we haven't answered on this page. We fully expect that we will add to this page in the coming weeks as we hear from more and more of you every day.
Question: What are your opening hours.
Answer: At the moment we plan to open Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30pm. We may revisit these hours as we move on but at the moment we believe this should be able to accommodate the families in our program.
Question: Does your program have space for School-aged children?
Answer: Unfortunately we do not have a school-age program running. Due to our location and the size of our space, we cannot allocate a room for a school-age program that would only run for a few hours of the day. As many schools now offer an after-school care program, or OSC programs operate out of or directly beside a school, we believe our centre is best utilized in a full-day program for children from 12 months through preschool.
Question: Where are you located?
Answer: You will find Haven Childcare at 5414 55 Street, Unit B, Cold Lake South. We are directly beside Chill Out Spa, and Impact Health in the building next door. (Also just down from Esso)
Question: Do you still have space available?
Answer: Spots are filling up quickly but there are still a few spaces available as of the publishing of this FAQ page. June 21st is our tentative opening date, and we will let parents know as soon as this date is confirmed.
Question: You say you are a faith-based, Christian Childcare centre, does this mean we have to be Christian for our children to attend?
Answer: Not at all. We welcome families of all backgrounds! We just want to be upfront that as a faith-based centre, prayer at mealtimes and bible stories and songs, will be a part of the program we offer. We believe in providing holistic care that develops a child's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self. We welcome you to share your background with us and how you are raising your children at home.
Question: What are your fees?
(PLEASE NOTE!! JUST WEEKS AWAY FROM OPENING WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED INFORMATION FROM THE GOVERNMENT THAT NEW CENTRES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FORTHE AFFORDABILITY GRANT - This is of course devastating news and we are in contact with our MP, MLA, Mayor, and others to try and get Haven's Families' on the list of those who qualify. In the meantime, we are still planning to open as soon as possible, but this will affect fees for the time being. Please do email us at havenchildcarecl@gmail.com for more information about current fees, and how you can help up fight to get Haven Parents the same grant as others in our area.)
